FAQ
Handover, permits and insurances
When you arrive at the designated meeting point, all passengers or only the skipper board the boat. First, we will sign an agreement and provide detailed instructions on how to dock the boat, followed by a demonstration of the process.
Afterwards, you will practice docking so that we can be certain that it goes smoothly. If the docking attempt is successful, we will introduce you to the basic safety rules both at the sea and on the boat, and we will show you the location of all the equipment.
If necessary, we can briefly go through the locations we emailed to you upon receiving the reservation. Once we complete this formal part of the handover, we are at your disposal for all additional questions.
If you want to rent a boat without a skipper, then you must own a valid skipper license. If you do not have a skipper license or you do not feel confident to navigate the boat by yourself, the skipper is always available to hire at a rate of 15 €/h. Please note that boat rental with a skipper has to be agreed upon in advance.
Our boats are covered with full kasko insurance which has already been paid for, so you do not need additional insurance. Kasko insurance covers a wide range of incidents, including damage you may cause to our boat or some other boat and injuries resulting from such an accident.
If you damage our boat, we can charge you the maximum amount of 500 to 1000 EUR (depending on the boat).
We do not require a security deposit. Instead, we sign an agreement.
In the event of damage, we will charge you the amount up to 500 or 1000 EUR (depending on the boat), as defined by the agreement.
Boat handover locations and rental period
A boat can be handed over on several locations:
- The best location for handover is our main location: a small port situated near the main entrance of the Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation “Martin Horvat” (at the crossroads between Bernardo Benussi and Luigi Monti). All our boats are docked there when not rented, so you can view them before booking. Parking at the location is free during the low season (1 November – 31 March), and parking ticket during the high season (1 April – 31 October) is charged 1 €/h or 7 €/day.
- If your accommodation is in the centre, you can choose between two available pick-up locations. If you are staying in the old part of the town, the best handover location is “INA obala“ gas station; and if you are staying near Maistra hotels, the best location is “Dolphin dock station“.
- If you are staying at the Amarin resort/hotel, the boat can be handed over at the pier from which the taxi boat departs for Rovinj.
- If you are staying on the island of Katarina or on the Red Island, the handover location is on the Northern dock, from which a ferry departs.
- If you are accommodated in Valalta campsite, our office and meeting location is in Valalta marina.
- If you are staying at Val Saline campsite, the pick-up location is Val Saline pier.
Just let us know which location works best for you – we will bring the boat to you.
Additional locations for boat handover are available during the low season (until 10th June and after 10th September). You can choose between:
- pier in Polari & Villas Rubin campsites.
- pier in Veštar Camping.
In the low season (until 10th June and after 10th September) it is possible to arrange different rental times; however, a half-day rental remains the minimal boat rental period. Even if you wish to rent a boat for a shorter period, you will still be charged for a half-day rental.
Although it is possible to rent a boat on the day you wish to sail, the boat you want probably won’t be available. Therefore, we recommend booking at least 3 to 4 days in advance, i.e. in the high season (summer months) we recommend booking a boat at least 7 days in advance to ensure that the boat you want will be ready for you.
If you wish to rent a boat for an extended period, please contact us a few months in advance so that we can check the boat availability.
If you cancel the rental 24 or more hours before the scheduled date, we will refund the entire amount, regardless of the reason for cancellation. If you cancel the rental within 24 hours, we will refund the entire amount only in the event of force majeure (such as illness, cancelled flight/transport, etc.), provided that you present a proof, and in the event when we have to cancel due to bad weather. Don’t worry – before cancellation, we will always offer you alternative rental dates.
Fuel and Extras
The rental price includes the following:
- a map with locations we recommend visiting and those dangerous locations that should be avoided;
- free complimentary cold drinks (water, beer, Coca-Cola, Fanta, iced tea);
- the possibility to pick up the boat on different locations;
- free cancellation up to 24 hours before the rental date;
- full kasko insurance (franchise 500 – 1000 EUR).
Fuel IS NOT included in the boat rental price.
Each boat is equipped with a computer displaying fuel consumption, and the description of every boat states its average consumption.
Keep in mind that your fuel consumption may differ from the calculated estimation as its consumption depends on numerous factors, such as sailing technique, speed, number of people on board and the duration of the trip.
Other important information
You are obliged to own a valid skipper license (a copy or a mobile photo is acceptable), an ID card or passport, and a mobile phone.
It is advisable to bring towels, swimsuits and snorkeling equipment if you plan to go snorkeling, sunscreens and other sun protection products, and a sufficient amount of water to keep you hydrated.
During the low season it is advisable to pack warmer (long) clothes (long pants and light jacket) as evening temperatures can be significantly lower than daytime temperatures.
Although the little ones often have a wonderful time on the boat, keep in mind that they may feel nauseous because of the waves. Therefore, we do not recommend taking children younger than 2 years on the boat. Additionally, you should pay extra attention to kids who cannot swim or who are still learning to swim.
Dogs are allowed on all boats, with the exception of the Sea Ray 230.
